Buxton is a forum for relationship building and a place where difficult questions and any and all topics can be discussed at a genuine and sincere level. The goal is to cultivate understanding and friendship between people and to understand individual truths, particularly regarding faith, and to build bridges between disconnected people and communities. Such work often warrants confusion as to what the ‘end goal’ is. The Buxton Initiative is often asked “why?” and “to what end?” The simple answer is that we need real dialogue in safe spaces, such as Buxton creates, because within our society, polarized misunderstanding, and politicized assumptions reign between faith communities and within the general community.
With the launch of our new website, a stronger commitment to the twitter world and the start of a new year, we hope to refresh the conversation by serving as a place where people, of all faith convictions and worldviews, can come to talk candidly about what is on their hearts and minds. Individual faith (locally and globally), organized faith, and the socio-political conversation about faith play a huge role in the public sphere. Buxton seeks to engage all people in this conversation.
The conversation on faith, whether positive or negative, is abundant. Stay tuned for a list of articles, people, places, and things that we find stimulating and intriguing to our work. Let us know what you think and help us expand our resources and the discussion! We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at our upcoming events!
